Although i do a lot of acoustic solo work i also work with several bands. All of which are available for functions and special occasions. There is the Local Motives a Country rock and Blues band. Or Benny and Co a cover band doing songs from the last 6 decades.

If you hire either band then for a small amount extra you can also have a disco included.

Any requests are welcome but please give a little notice to give the band time to learn them.

Upon booking either band then 50% of the fee is required up front and the following 50% upon arrival many thanks. Please contact to discuss your requirements and to arrange the fee. Should you cancel the band two weeks prior to the event then the depost will not be returned however before this two week deadline then you will reacieve your deposit back in full. This goes the same for booking a disco and or karaoke.

The Locomotive

The Locomotive on Watson street is a friendly pub with a great atmoshere and are kind enough to let me play there regularly and indeed have taken over their music completely now.

Wednesdays is the Open Mic where everyone is welcome to come along and sing, play an instrument and hopefully just enjoy a night of entertainment. Sarah also puts on a free supper and a raffle. Everyone is welcome and it is of course free entry.

Friday is the Karaoke which currently has over 1000 songs but in the very near future that should be over 3000. Again it is open to all ages and id free entry so come along and be a star for 15 minutes.

Saturdays there is live music in the way of theme nights on the 19th of January is a Counry rock night and on the 26th is a Beatles night. Just to give you an idea of the type of thing that goes on.

Sundays is a Jam session with free supper and again is open to all. Come along and join in with singing or play an instrument or just sit back and enjoy the music. This starts six o'clock every sunday.

The pub itself serves food everyday and has it's own darts team and pool team. There is a social league on Monday nights and has a selection of largers and real ales.

Open Mic Nights

I currently an open Mic Night or Jam Night in York.

I am always looking for new talent and acts to put on and if it goes well i am looking to get them paid gigs.

Every Wednesday is at the Locomotive in Watson Street York. This starts at 8:30 and everyone is welcome. It is a very family orientated pub and the staff are lovely. Anyone ineterested should come along or call me on 07840466050 for more details. This I run with Dan Stockdale from my Acoustic Duet ..Double Stop..

The locomotive has a friendly atmosphere and is well attended so should you wish to take part or just have an evening of live and often suprising entertainment please come down.

Also every Friday there is another open Mic night at the Independent on Lowther Street. This is again a friendly atmosphere and great staff. This is new so hopeing to get some new talent found. This again is run with Dan Stockdale.

These are not exclusively for musicians either as comics, story tellers, jugglars or indeed anyone who can entertain can come down. Hope to see you at one soon. One Mike Stand & ..Double Stop..

Double Stop

..Double Stop.. is yet another offspring of One Mike Stand. This is my blues and Rock'n'Roll acoustic duo. Dan Stockdale is on guitar and he does the twiddly bits that i don't (and to be honest can't) play. We regularly play at the Locomotive hosting the Sunday blues nights twice a month and organise the other acts for the other sundays.

This is a very free gig where other performers often attend and indeed join in. Everybody is welcome to this free entry gig that starts at 8:00 every Sunday. The next on one that Double stop are hosting is on the 9th of September. We also play regulary at the Black Swan in York usually once a month. This is with other bands and acoustic acts so anyone interested in playing please contact us.

..Double Stop.. also run the open Mic Night. Dan Stockdaleis an 80’s child and a big fan of Bon-Jovi and Guns and Roses this comes across in his playing and his solo skills on the guitar. He also has a passion for Randy Roads’ classical playing. Dan has also played at the Grand Opera House in York in a battle of the bands event. Together they make an unusual pairing but the result is worth a listen. It is these differences in tastes that accounts for ..Double Stop.. ’s originality. During the last year ..Double Stop.. have played such venues as the Clarence Gardens Hotel and the Junction in York also the White Horse in Stamford Bridge not to mention the Welly club in Hull as part of a regional festival.

Dan is also starting a new Motley Crew tribute band so keep an eye out for that. He also plays an integral part in the arranging of songs in ..Double Stop.. keeping the music fresh and interesting.

Mike Collinson is a singer songwriter who has worked hard on achieving his original sound in both his voice and his compositions. He has achieved a modicum of popularity in the pubs and music venues of York working under the name “One Mike Stand” and is ready to branch out even further a-field. His interest in music stems from such greats as The Kinks and David Bowie this you can tell from his manner and lyrical content. He has been heavily influenced also by some of the country greats like Johnny Cash and Slim Whitman. Don’t be fooled to believe he is a country player though for he can attack Blues and Acoustic Rock with the same gusto and style. During the last year alone One Mike Stand has played such venues as Fibbers in York, a member of the Barfly group and The Welly Club in Hull as part of a regional festival. At the youth-full age of twenty four he has come a long way and has a long way to go, this is the start of a long road but he is ready for any challenge as his set list shows, he often takes a challenge from the audience of spontaneously ad-libbing a song both musically and lyrically always a crowd pleaser. He combines clever lyrics and a wry sense of humour to keep the crowd hanging onto his every word and always has a witty retort or humorous tale to regale. Mike Collinson has played with various bands as both a live session musician and collaborator on material. But it is his solo live shows he is best known for and that he enjoys the most. Recently he has been working on recording his own backing tracks to fill out his sound even more. This shows his musical abilities even more. He is also currently working on his first solo album to be released locally in the near future. Having a back catalogue of over three hundred songs is a remarkable achievement for any one but given his age it’s astounding so whenever you attend a One Mike Stand Gig you know there will be plenty to keep you entertained and something there for everyone. He is currently working with Jen Darvill in acoustic Duo which is gigging regularly in York, working on harmonies and rearranging classic songs.
